Safety and control

This is an incredibly complex metaphor which I'm still thinking over, so forgive me if I have jumped to wrong conclusions.
ReplyDeleteYou pose the question what would I change if I were a computer. On first glance, I selected the OS. This was an instinctive decision based on my knowledge of the computer - that is, I became a little too literal in my interpretation of the metaphor.
Upon further consideration, I don't think it would be possible to select one aspect for change. They are all intermingled. In fact, there is a very real possibility that if you focus on one aspect to change, you will find out too late that it is incompatible with another part of the computer system - like introducing new software that will allow responses to a new set of hardware that corrupts other peripheries.
I think this goes back to needing to look at the whole system, and each parts context within that system. We all need to move forward, but can't be done with random upgrades or too much focus on one area. Each of us needs to experience growth on a global level. The way this growth occurs might be through gradual changes and growth in one area, but there is always an eye kept on the entire system.

Dear One
ReplyDeletePlease accept my apologies for having to wait for your excellent reply/comment/post to be published, the whole weekend.
Our weekends are so busy with two young sons with too much energy for even two parents to live up to their expectations, that we are not able to moderate comments during weekends.
Thank you for your excellent post.
We can not agree more with the fine points you made above.
Especially we liked your idea of having to keep the process of changes holistic, I have checked the dictionary about two meanings, first "Of or relating to holism" (which is not what I meant, since I couldn't care less about any ideology including NewAge ideology of holism, said the bold alter), and the second one (which is what I meant by holistic) "Emphasizing the importance of the whole and the interdependence of its parts."
Thank you for taking time and posting your thoughts, again. We appreciate it very much.
Samo, please don't apologise for taking time with your boys. Enjoy those moments with them when you can.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree that the second definition of holistic is the better one. Mind you, I'm a rather cynical soul who has never really identified with the New Age ideology.
We all appreciate your blogs and comments.
Kind regards
